About Us

We are “Women Building Better Communities.”

Our vision is of a London where each person has the opportunity and means to prosper.
We provide volunteers and resources to support projects eliminating poverty and its effects in London.
Our 400 members give over 20,000 volunteer hours to London each year, all with the goal of improving the lives of Londoners in need.

During the past year alone we have:

• Painted rooms, planted gardens and more through our Done in a Day programmes;
• Provided personalised Holiday Hampers to over 900 London families who would otherwise receive nothing during the festive season;
• Tutored disadvantaged children in arts, maths and reading through our Learning Clubs at Colville Primary School;
• Launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to help improve reading skills and foster an interest in learning in children from low-income families;
• Partnered with Centrepoint, which aims to help young homeless people reintegrate into society;
• Equipped the young people at Rugby Portobello Trust with work-based skills through a variety of workshops through our Running Start programme.

To learn more about our community programmes, see the community section of this website by clicking here.

Our unique all-volunteer structure and hands-on approach mean that the impact of funds we invest in London is amplified by the thousands of hours donated by its volunteer-members.

JLL is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI)  and is one of 293 member Leagues located in the Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Our 400 volunteer-members are educated, professional women who come from many different backgrounds.  Because the Junior League movement was borne in the US and is well known in communities there, most of our members are American.

Our JLL volunteers receive “on-the-job” and classroom-style training to develop non-profit leadership skills and learn how to help communities reach their full potential. The result is innovative and collaborative programmes that significantly impact the London community.
