The 5th Annual Little Black Dress Initiative
Did you know nearly 30% of Londoners live below the poverty line? And that poverty is often cyclical, locking successive generations into the trap of low incomes and social exclusion?
“LBDI” stands for the Little Black Dress Initiative – a week-long, fundraising campaign that uses the iconic “Little Black Dress” to increase awareness of the Junior League of London’s (JLL) community focus to eliminate poverty and its effects in London. 2018 marks our fifth year running and in its first four years, the LBDI has seen over 100 participants raise £80,000 to support the work of the Junior League of London.
To increase awareness about this issue and raise funds to support the our community programmes, participants wear the same black dress for five consecutive days. You can support us by donating via our JustGiving page, or organising a clothing drive in your neighborhood or at work. Find out more on this initaitive here, and follow participants on social media at #TheLBDI and #JLLwearsLBD. We are grateful for any and all support!
