About Holiday Hampers:
Holiday Hampers is the Junior League of London’s (JLL) signature community project, as well as our longest-running community programme. Each year the Holiday Hampers programme provides hampers filled with gifts, food, toiletries and other essentials for some of London’s most vulnerable populations during the holiday season. Read about our 2015 programme, which benefitted 1,332 Londoners, here.
Hampers are carefully customised to the needs of the recipients, whether for an elderly individual, a single mother escaping domestic violence, or families working their way out of poverty or homelessness. Last year, for example, hampers for young mothers included: soup, dried pasta, canned fruit and vegetables, biscuits, tea, jam, chocolate, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, a book and a personalised children’s gift.
Our aim is to help these families and individuals feel the spirit of the holidays. We understand from our partners that our hampers are often the only gifts they receive, and they make a real difference in their lives. As a West London Action for Children staff member reported, “The Hampers were the highlight of the Christmas activities for our clients. They made them feel cared for and far less isolated.”
There are many ways to get involved with Holiday Hampers. Your support will benefit one of the JLL’s most important community outreach programmes and touch many lives across London at the holidays. Ways you can help include:
1) Purchasing gifts for a hamper for an assigned family in need at one of our partner agencies (£75 value per hamper). In November, you will receive details about the person or family receiving your hamper, giving you the opportunity to personalise the gifts to fit their needs and bring holiday cheer to their lives this year! We suggest planning to spend £75 on gifts. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange.
2) Unable to donate gifts? You can make a financial contribution to the Hampers programme through our Virgin Money Giving page.
3) You can also purchase items for the hampers on our Amazon Wish List. Upon check out, send the goods to Cadogan Tate Ltd: Annabelle Springate, 239 Acton Lane, JLL Holiday Hampers, London, United Kingdom NW10 7NP, tel. 0208 963 4000.
4) Help us to publicise the programme: We are always interested in finding ways to increase awareness about Holiday Hampers. Are you a journalist looking for a story? Do you have technical skills in photography, video editing or PR that you would like to contribute? Please contact our Communications team at email@example.com.
