SECOND ANNUAL LONDON SPREE CHARITY SHOPPING EVENT LAUNCHES IN MARCH

With 20% Off, Giving Has Never Been So Rewarding!

The Junior League of London (JLL), a local charity, is proud to announce its second annual fundraising shopping event, London Spree, will be held from 6 – 15 March 2009.

During this time, when shoppers donate £30 to the JLL they will receive a London Spree card which entitles them to 20% off all purchases at participating retail partners and service providers from 6 until 15 March 2009. Participating retailers represent a wide variety offerings including: clothing, spas, fitness, restaurants and furniture throughout London.  For a full list of participating retailers, please see Notes to Editor.

Purchases of the card will benefit the JLL supporting its charitable mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving local communities.  The JLL’s community programmes include a Christmas hamper programme for London’s less fortunate residents as well as school and community centre programmes to help children from challenged backgrounds explore their identity through a variety of art mediums.  The purchase of one London Spree card alone can cover the cost of an after-school tutoring session for at-risk children, while  the purchase of two can pay for a Holiday Hamper with gifts and necessities for a family in need.

“We are very excited about the London Spree card and hope that Londoners will come out to support this programme again this year.  For a small donation, you can save 20% at local shops, restaurants and other services.  And while you are saving money, your donation will fund our charity as we help to make a difference to the life of those in need,” said Jen Clarke, President, Junior League of London.

To purchase a London Spree card, shoppers can logon to the JLL’s website, www.jll.org.uk.  An up to date list of participating retailers (both alphabetical and by categories) and a map of retailer locations is also available on the site as well as details on how retailers can sign up to participate.
