Disrupt your digital DNA

At the Junior League of London, we empower women to transform their community, addressing critical issues in London including homelessness, employment & life skills and literacy.  One of the ways that we do this is by training and developing our members with leadership and personal growth skills.  The Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) committee kicked off the 2017-2018 year with their first LEAD training event on 21st September:  Disrupt your Digital DNA.  This lively and informative session explored the ways that you can brand, educate and position yourself for your career aspirations whether you work in large enterprise or run your own business.

Entrepreneurs Margarete McGrath and Victoria Bushnell kicked the evening off with a discussion of how they use digital to brand themselves, and what the future holds for larger business who want to use social media to its full potential. Then the JLL’s own Anna Baird shared her six top tips for using your LinkedIn profile to further your digital brand.  Here are two of her top tips:

  1. Always, always have a photo. These days, if you don’t have a photo, it’s just sketchy.
  2. LinkedIn is a great place to share your thought leadership. Monday at 11:00 is the best time to post, because people are just about ready for their morning coffee break.

Throughout the evening, Howard Abernathy of Finest Fizz shared both the story of how Anna helped him create his digital brand—and some lovely champagne. After the presentation, the group continued the discussion over drinks, and made more than a few online and real-world connections.  The session was very well received and we’re excited about what the LEAD committee will bring us for the rest of the year!
