More Ways to Support the JLL

In addition to the annual fund, Boutique de Noel, Living in London and our fundraising events, there are many other easy and efficient ways that you can support the League, and not all of them require direct financial contribution – just your time and a bit of dedication!

Please take a look at the options below and see if there are any ways you might be able to help support the JLL (and remember to tell your friends!)

1. Make your gift go further: Gift Aid it!

Gift Aid is the UK government’s way of allowing the charities a UK taxpayer supports to reclaim tax the taxpayer has already paid to the government. For every pound received under Gift Aid, the JLL will receive an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can make your dues or donation go further by checking the Gift Aid box online when you pay your dues.

Why this is important: If every League member were eligible (that is, if we all were UK taxpayers), and took the time to register for Gift Aid, the League would receive over £17,000 back from the government this year – and that’s just on our dues payments!

All you need to do is complete the GiftAid Declaration form, return it to the office and JLL will do the rest. You should have had the opportunity as a new member or transfer to complete a GiftAid registration form. If you are unsure whether you have completed a Gift Aid form, contact the JLL office.

2. Corporate Matching:

Many corporations support employees’ charitable contributions through matching gift programmes-matching dues or donations. Matching gift programmes can double or triple the value of your contributions to JLL.

We have compiled an extensive list of companies that we understand have matching gift programmes. This list is by no means exhaustive. Regardless of whether your or your partner’s employer is on the list, we encourage all members to take the time to ask about corporate matching. In the past, JLL has benefited from matching programmes at Credit Suisse, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, UBS and Walt Disney to name a few.

If 25% of our membership obtained corporate matching from their company or their partner’s, the League would receive nearly £17,000.

If you have any questions about this or need help, please do not hesitate to contact the JLL office.

3. Give as you Earn (GAYE)

Many employers also offer a GAYE scheme, which allows you to donate to a charity of your choice tax-efficiently by taking your donation from your pay before tax is calculated. Find out if your employer participates.

4. Support the JLL Through a 10-K or Other Challenge with Virgin Money Giving

Considering a 10-K run? Planning to undertake a major challenge like biking from London to Brighton, Three Peaks or something even more adventurous? Then consider asking your friends to support your efforts by creating a donor page online at Virgin Money Giving.

And remember, the JLL has a debenture that allows us to enter up to 6 runners each year in the ASICS British 10-K London Run which takes place in July. If you are prepared to raise at least £250 for the JLL, you can have one of our slots in the race – contact the JLL Office for further information. Are you up for the challenge?

5: Shop Online Through The Giving Machine

6. Give Efficiently Through the CAF American Donor Fund (CADF)

JLL is registered with the CAF American Donor Fund. This means that if you are a dual US and UK registered tax payer and would like to make a contribution to the League whilst being able to obtain UK and US compliant tax receipts, you now can! There is a minimum £50 fee associated with this service – for gifts of under £1,000, the donor will be responsible for a portion of this fee. For more information, contact the JLL Office to obtain the necessary forms.

7: Recycle Your Mobile for Charity

You can recycle your old mobile phones and ink cartridges with Recycle4Charity. The JLL receives a percentage of the recycled value of the items. Please contact the JLL office for more details.

8. Jewellery Recycling

Recycle your unwanted gold, silver, costume jewellery, watches, damaged, broken and incomplete jewellery items into money for the League! Contact the office to obtain a special returns envelope.

9. Mission Fish – The way to fundraise on ebay
