The Done in a Day (DIAD) project offers Junior League volunteers a variety of one-off opportunities for engaging with local community partners in need of short-term assistance. DIAD offers frequent, flexible, “hands on,” volunteer opportunities that can usually be completed in one day.

With a variety of different community partners like Streetlytes, Dress for Success, and The Venture Centre to name just a few, DIAD volunteers have had the chance to participate in a broad range of activities. Some recent DIAD activities have included:

  • Hosting arts and crafts sessions for children after school
  • Assisting at regular soup kitchen sessions
  • Stuffing envelopes for an organization’s large annual mailing
  • Organizing holiday parties for women and children living in a domestic violence refuge
  • Sorting donated clothing for men and women re-entering the workforce to wear during interviews

The DIAD project seeks to provide meaningful opportunities for both volunteers and local community organizations. While we have a strong network of existing local community partners, the DIAD project is always looking for new potential partners. If you would like more information on becoming a DIAD partner, please contact the JLL office.
